I'm curious. Why would you assume this is colon cancer. Antibiotics doesn't cure cancer.

Sounds like you have stomach issues.

How long have you had these symptoms? Have you gone to your doctor to discuss them?

I have been having these symptoms for over a month, the reason I assume colon cancer is cause I carry the cancer gene from my father who died from colon cancer 3yrs ago he caught it when he was 25yrs old by the time he had the symptoms it was too late it was stage 4 colon cancer.

I understand you have been to the ER twice, but have you been to your primary physician? That is where you need to start.

You might need a colonoscopy to find out what is going on down there. Who said it was colon cancer?

I did the did a rectal exam and he found the blood in my stool, the ct scan was OK except I have a lot of polyps in my colon, my blood count was kind of low and my heart rate was high. So the er doc told me there was nothing else they could do for me so I scheduled a visit with my primary doctor on Friday and I'm going to ask him to refer me to get a colonoscopy done. I just wanted to get exstra advice on this cause I'm scarred

I understand you are scared and that's a normal, healthy response to what you are going through. However, there is no way for us to help you via the internet. Most likely the colonoscopy will be the deciding factor.

Good luck to you. I hope and pray that it is not cancer.

    A month?

Sweetie, the symptoms you describe sound more like the flu, or an infection, which is most likely why you were prescribed antibiotics. Antibiotics don't cure cancer.

If you're concerned about colon cancer then you need to see your doctor, have testing done, a colonoscopy, etc. etc. That's the only way to know for sure what's going on.

On a side note, I know that one day I will die of cancer. It runs in my family. My mother died of cancer, my father died of cancer, both sets of grandparents died of cancer, and so on and so on.

    I'm a prime target.

But I don't spend every single day of my life worrying about it. I do see my doctor regularly, and I do what I need to do to diagnose early. But I don't obsess about it, otherwise cancer will not only kill me one day, but it will stop me from living right now.

You have one case of cancer in your family. Don't let that rule your life.

See your doctor, and then live your life.

    Good luck.

    I understand that fear.

Since I was 14 years old I've had blood in my stool. Not a drop here or there, but cups full at a time. For years (I'm now 41) I ignored it, and hoped that it wasn't something serious.

A few years ago I finally go the nerve to tell my doctor what was going on, I had a colonoscopy done, and, well, I won't tell you what it is because it's a bit embarrassing, but I can tell you that all those years of worrying was for what amounts to a very small problem. It's not cancer. I was terrified that it was.

Don't worry until you have a reason to worry. See your doctor, get the testing done, and then go from there. Worrying will not change anything. It is what it is, but that doesn't mean that it's cancer. There are many things this could be, and most of them are not fatal.

Why scared? It's fear of what you don't know, so find out and then you have something concrete to deal with and treat. There are so many things that can go wrong with our intestines. More than 90% of people diagnosed with the colon cancer are 50 or older and the average age of diagnosis is 64. Are you age 50 or older?
