401k plan administrator said I have to wait until end of year for roll-over
Left my previous employer in February & the 401K plan administrator said they can't release/roll-over my 401K into my new employers plan until the end of the year. Is this correct for some plans?

I've never heard of such a restriction. Normally when you request a rollover it takes 2 - 3 weeks at most. Have you asked why the delay? Could it be that your ex-employer provides matching funds at the end of the year, so they restrict rollovers until the matching funds are included?

I've contacted HR at Dexter with no luck. I need to know what the balance in my 401K was in Jan. 1991. I moved the money to a new employer later, but no help there either. Dexter Axle merged with Tomkins in 1991 I believe.

End of Year Bonus and 401K [ 2 Answers ]

Hi, End of year bonus are taxed at a higher bracket than your regular wage tax bracket. Would I save money by deferring most of my end of year bonus to a 401K plan; therefore when I withdraw my 401K at retirement it would be taxed lower at my income tax bracket. For example, my federal tax...
