    Spotting after the depo provera shot
    I got the shot about 6 weeks ago, at first everything was great no spotting or nothing. About 2 weeks ago I started spotting and it hasn't stopped. I found a packet of yaz birth control pills can I take these while on depo to help stop the bleeding?

    No, do not take the yaz. With the depo you already have an elevated level of progestin and the yaz would add to that. The spotting, while annoying, is not an uncommon side effect to the depo. You will likely find that it will subside and you may not even have periods any more, or they will lighten. For some women this may take several months to happen. However, some women find that they have increased bleeding while using depo.

    It can take time for your body to adjust, but it would be wise to inform your doctor of the possible side effect that you are experiencing so that any other cause can be ruled out.
