Drug testing of patients on controlled drugs
I have two instances that I would like to talk about and ask questions about. One pertains to my son and the other pertains to me.

    First my son's questions:

My son has been taking precription xanax for 2 years. The last time he went to refill is precription he was told that he had to have a drug test because of DEA laws to see if the xanax was in his system or if he was selling them. He was taken a back by such a comment, but sbmitted to the tests the doctor requested of him as he had nothing to hide. He needs his pills for his use badly and does not, will not and has not given away or sold the drugs that keep him sane.

Then he received a bill in the mail that his insurance company had denied to pay the 800.00 charge for the test this made him furious. He thought a test would run 50.00. His co-pay was 20 and his meds 10.00. Does he now have
To pay 830.00 evey time for his meds?

Mine and his questions are why do these tests cost so much, why will the insurance companies not pay for this test and when did these tests take effect as DEA law? He had never had to take one before and the cost is outragous.

When the medical office was called about the billing they could not give him any answers except that they had to do that, and that he would have to call some bureau and it would only cost him 35 dollars. When he tried the number they gave him it was continually busy and he has never been able to get through and talk to anyone, nor gotten any answers to his questions, or a real answer to why.

    Now my questions:

I currently have had two heart attacks in the past 8 months and two stents, this has been a traumatic period for me. Not only did my regular doctor suggest that I get on something to calm me, but also my cardiologist recommeded it, because of the stress associated with such a traumatic experience. I finally decieded that I had to try something. I was angry all the time, and would just burst out crying. I fought it all the way, trying to deal with it under my own willpower, but nothing worked and I became concerned that I could not do my job and could be fired.

I work as a correctional officer and I have to keep my emotions in check, and can not have these types of out bursts at work, so I contacted a doctor and was precribed a two week dosage, takeing one tablet twice a day of Clonazepam. They helped me remarkably.

Now I have to go back to the doctor to renew this controlled drug and am concerned that I will be drug tested and charged 800.00 that my insurance won't pay for either. I just can not deal with any more pressure, as the hospital is harrasssing me about the money I owe already and can't pay all at once, even though I have faithfully sent 25 dollars every month to them, and they have excepted it, however they wanted 30 and are turning it over to collections and even sent me a letter stateing that I had not made any attempt to pay. I do have a limited income. I live alone, and have no help from a help meets income.

And then the pharmacy that I had my scripts at messed up my isosorb mono 60 mg (timed release for agina) telling me that my script had expired and it hadn't, it had 3 more refills on it, then lied to me that the doctor just called and they had them ready. I told them he had not because I just got off the phone with him and they had not called because I asked them if they had.

I immediately had my scripts transferred to another pharmacy. I couldn't believe that they lied. Everyone makes mistakes, but not admitting to the mistake and lying about it is what upset me the most, as the meds I take keep me alive, and I can not have someone messing them up. More chest pains from that trauma!

Both my son and I would really like to find the answers to this outragous charge for DEA crap. Don't we all pay more than our fair share in taxes and the such to support them. Why must honest people have to pay for it all, and suffer because we are just rying to stay healthy and sane?

    Thank you for your time.

With meds like this you have to go back to the doctor periodically to have them filled. I don't think it was the RXstore, but rather the doctor's office that told the son he need to have the test done. ;)
