Log in window xp in safe mode?
I am in safe mode in windows xp. I had to boot in the safe mode by msconfig in the run box. I was running Windows Malicious Tool Remover to remove a back door trojan that would keep reappearing. The computer shut down by itself. When I restarted it,it goes all the way to the welcome page with my account and administrator. When I choose either it says loading your personal settings then immediately says saving your settings. Any idea how to get past this?

Groundhog Day. Everything stays the same. Still have the Welcome Page. I can select either my account or Administrator. Still says Loading Personal Settings, then immediately says Saving Your Settings no matter how many times I choose either account. Ctrl,Alt,Delete brings up Log on to Windows with my name in user name but Password is blank. I have never set a password for this. Administrator or Admin. Does not work.

Sometimes when you remove a virus you need to be careful of what exactly your removing. It may have been the some files accociated with a virus have been removed. Do you have an XP install disk? You can boot it up and choose "repair". That should get you back to where you can get to windows again.

If you can find someone with a genuine Xp disk then your code will help emensly.

I talked to my brother and he has a copy of Windows XP with product key that has never been used. I'll let you know if I have any luck .
