I live in port allen Louisiana, and 17 days ago I sold my mobile home to someone and at our bank after the sell was final I asked to have a paper notarized stating that they had to give us two weeks to move out, because I didn't know what the state law is when dealing with selling and or buying mobile homes. So my question is when you sell your mobile home how long do you have to get your belongings out?

It depends on how long you agree. If there's not agreement, it would be treated as abandoned property and subject to the state law on that subject.

Generally, when you sell a home, you vacate BEFORE closing. At the closing you cease to own the property and have no rights to stay. Its not uncommon however, for the parties to make an agreement for the seller to remain for a period. But this is a matter solely between the parties and not a matter of law.

OK well we had a paper notarized stating we had two weeks and two days before the two weeks was up they called the police and showed them the title with their name on it an the police allowed them to break in the front door and stay their with all my things in the trailer well the things I had left to get an no one ever contacted us to let us to let us know anything are that they were even trying to get in! I had full intentions on getting my things out an giving them the keys by the two weeks! So the dAy after they broke in I showed up in our uhaul to get the rest of my things An they had a car in the driveway so I asked the women that lives next door if she knew who was there an she said two girl she thought one was my sister, so I walked up to the door An it was cracked open with the chain lock on it because its broke from them breaking in so I open the door an the two females were standing in the living room digging threw my things an she called the police and they wouldn't allow me to go in an get my belongings even though the two weeks wasn't up, they said because the title has their name on it, its now their trailer an it was up to them weither are not they wAnted to allow me to get my things! So I'm asking because they said I would have to tAke them to court. An the time that would take over half of my stuff would be missing! I really need to know what to do because the things that were left is very very valuable an I need them !

17 days is longer than two weeks. Have you moved your stuff?

If you have an agreement that was signed by the buyers giving you a specified time to vacate, then you should win a suit provided, they took possession prior to the expiration of that agreement. Your problem is going to be valuing your possessions to determine the amount they will owe you.

You may be able to get an emergency order to get your things out or to prevent them from disposing of them. But you have to act immediately.

If you have a written agreement, but I guess why they forced their way in, two days early ? And I wonder why you had not already moved out by then

But yes you have , if it all is true, grounds to sue
