    American divorced to a Spaniard
    Im an American citizen and I married a Spaniard. We married in Spain but divorced in the United States is there any further procedures I must take in Spain? He claims we need to translate divorce papers? Is this trur? Hes asking me for money for this and I need to know if Im wasting my time?

    He's suggesting to you that Spain needs to be somehow notified? Why? Do you have any property in Spain?

    No property in Spain. He claims we need to translate the divorce papers in Spain and this procedure requires a lawyer. He claims we're not divorced in Spain. I find it absurd.
