    Venting a new sink
Can I place a sanitary tee 6" below the p-trap of a new sink installation in order to tee over to a 2" vent pipe or does the tee (vent connection) need to go above the trap?

Tee over from where to a 2" vent?> Isn't the tee located on the vent?
It sounds like you're asking to build a "S" trap and those are a no-no.
Instead od elbowing down to the tee why not simply drop the trap down with a tailpiece extension, (see image) and connect in the usual way? Good luck, Tom
