    Flooding in Nigeria
Flooding displaces more than 2 million people in Nigeria - CNN.com

I find this a remakable piece of reporting, I can only wonder at a flood that floods 240 Acres and yet displaces 2 million people. Which of these statistics is exaggerated I can only wonder

    Hello clete:

Having read the article, I don't see ANY distortion... This is what is says: "... the flooding has left 97 hectares (about 240 acres) of farm land waterlogged and has caused 4.5 billion naira ($29 million) in damages, Kyari said."

The keyword above is LEFT. It doesn't say how many acres were originally flooded.

Ex it is usual for land that has been flooded to be water logged so the article provides a distroted picture of the extent of the flooding

    Hello again, clete:

Ok. The press distorts a lot of stuff. What's your point?

The press appears to be a little late on reporting this. I don't know if this is mismanagement as is claimed ;or if the country's leaders were forced to make a draconian decision to release the water from the dams or risk an even greater calamity .

There is just not enough in the article to evaluate .
I know this comes at a time of interesting political times in
Nigeria . I am aware of a north south divide in the country and
President Goodluck Jonathan is not universally loved. Elections are due soon .

Beyond that I am aware that the Niger Delta is the source of tremendous wealth if it could be used effectively to better the nation.
