I sold my boyfriend a truck which he promised to pay back
I sold my truck to my currently x boyfriend, which he has stopped paying me for. He owes me 2350, and he is driving the truck. The title was transferred into his name in order for him to get his own insurance. What do I do?

Unfortunately if you didn't put a lien on the title when you signed it over there is nothing that you can do. My wife and I encountered the same situation . We had sold my truck to a guy with the agreement that he would pay us 50 dollars a week until paid we even drew up a contract. Like you we transferred the title to him. When we took it to court the judge said that the contract was no good because we didn't put a lien on the title and how did he know that we didn't already get the money and that we were trying to pull a fast one on they other guy. So we ended up losing the truck and money. I will say it will never happen again

This is not correct. There are verbal agreements/contracts which are enforceable. The Judge in your case had to hear both sides - yours and his. He apparently believed the other guy.

I'm not in any way saying it's smart to sign the title over but that does not mean it's all over for the OP. She can go to Small Claims Court, present a good argument and any evidence she has and win.

We take pride in our answers on the legal threads and your advice is incorrect.

    Sue him.

Yes, Zeewolfman is correct that you should have retained a lien. But I disagree with his statement that there is nothing you can do. If your ex didn't make the agreed payments you can testify to that effect. I find it hard to believe, frankly that the person ZW sold the vehicle to lied about making the payments and was believed.
