    Verbal contract/laws
This is going to be long but I hope someone can please answer-- KANSAS --I am military and I deploy in November for a yr, my wife would need 4wd this winter so I was in the process of trading my 2001 mustang GT for his Jeep wrangler. The verbal contract was that both vehicles were reliable and in good working order, I held up my end being as my mustang hasn't given me problems, I have been finding out more and more problems with the jeep and don't have the time or money to fix it. I have a bank as a lien on the mustang so therefore they have the title, they were going to send me a check for the balance to pay off the mustang so that they would release the title in which I would sign over to him. The bank didn't get the back copy of the jeeps title showing that he owns the jeep free and clear so they never finalized everything which was good on my end being as I told him there wasn't a deal anymore and that I wanted my car back, I only had the jeep 2 days. He refuses and says that we had a deal, which he is screwing me on... How can he not give back the car when I own the car and he owns the jeep when I never signed anything and now I have to take him to court? Seems as if he is screwing over somebody who is fighting for his freedom. If somebody can answer this I'd HIGHLY appreciate it. Thanks!

A verbal contract can be enforced ( but never should be on a car)

The issue is now to prove the terms to the judge.

At this point he has not keep his end of the contract, providing a signed title to give you full ownership.

I would say that the issue is that?? You already gave him the car ? Without a clear title signed?

If he will not agree, you will need to take it to court

We were going to sign eachothers title once the bank sent me the check to pay off the car in which I would record the bank as the new lien on the jeep and send them the title for them to hold until the jeep was paid off. Now what if I got another key and drove the jeep to his house and picked up the mustang and if there was any property in the car I would simply put it in the jeep and walk away from there..

    Hello again:

I've got a minute, so I'm going to elaborate...

Some years ago I did some work for a local auto repair shop. The bastard STIFFED me. I, like you, wanted what I was promised... So, I had my daughter take her car in for repairs. I made SURE that the bill didn't go over what I was owed... After the car was repaired, he put it on the street. Yes, I took it... Guess who got arrested? My daughter. She STILL hasn't forgiven me, and I don't blame her.

What is/was wrong with the Jeep that it would cost too much to fix? Jeeps are very reliable but they do sometimes have problems. What needed fixed?
