Hi all.

We have just moved into a new rented house about 5 days ago. We have been using the central heating system occasionally since as the house is very big and a bit cold. The hot water boiler supplies the heat for the system and is located in the kitchen. I believe it is a Worcester.

When we turn it on, it starts running and gradually the heaters get very hot, but not all of them. The kitchen one works fine, the hallway works fine, the living room works fine as well as one of the bedrooms but the other 2 bedrooms never quite warm up enough. They only stay a bit warm (and it takes a while even to get to that stage). It never gets proper hot like its supposed to.

Now I am a bit worried as even in early Autumn the heaters in the bedroom really struggle but what about winter?

I really want to know the cause of this problem.

Very often with hydronic heat the system and individual heaters have bleeder valves which allow you to release the air from the heaters, radiators or baseboard type. What you describe is a symptom of air in the heaters. Is there a lot of gurgling when the heater is running? In addition to that there could be zone valves which are connected to some of the heaters. These can be just mechanical valves or electric controlled valves. You may have the landloard call a hvac guy to check it out before winter gets here.

Usually the landlord takes care of any repairs on the rental property you live in. Many landlord do not want the tenant working on equipment in there homes and in some cases it can be illegal for you to do so if not you are not properly certified. I suggest you contact the owner of the home before taking any action.

No, there is no gurgling. Yes, the system should be checked before winter sets in... Anyway, I can see what I can do... Thanks for the info though! :D
