    Mother needs ? Answered
OK, I have a 9 yr old son who has been living with his dad sense he was 5 yrs old. I had left to get my life straightened out and now I have been stable for over a yr now. The father will not let me see my son nor will he work with me as far as visitations. The whole family makes my life a living hell and wants me to pay child support without no visitation and I already pay 100 dollars a month and still don't get to see him? I can not handle fighting with these people if I give up all rights will I still have to pay support? If I can't even see my child why should I have to pay support?

First, support and visitation are usually separate items. Second, you can't just give up your rights. Third, a court will not terminate rights when it means stopping child support.

What you don't discuss is why you needed to turn custody over and why you feel you are now stable. Have you gotten a psychiatrist to certify you? Is the child support you pay court ordered? Have you gone to court to get visitation rights? Also, are you in Denver? Laws vary by area so we need to know your general locale.

The issue here is not you being crazy or even being the entire "deal" things are what is legal and how it is done.

Visits and child support are not related. And no court will take away your rights so you don't have to pay.

If you want to see the child you will need to file for visitation in court and have a court order.

I will assume there is a court order for support, that you are required to pay.

You don't have to see or talk to the other parent, to visit a child if you set it up that way in court
