School supplies for low income single parents
    Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone knew of any programs to help single parents and/or low income parents with school supplies. I have a couple of friends who don't know if they can even buy school supplies this year. We live in Washington state. Thank you in advance for any and ALL advice.

Contact your school's PTA. They can help you. The ptA by me puts together backpacks for needy children that have the basic school supplies they may need that school year.

Of course contact the school, but also check out the religious group they may belong to, if they are low income their welfare case worker since there are often programs

They aren't religious, and don't have a case worker.

Check with the their school as many will have some items that have been donated to pass out or will know of a place that does. You might also check with one of your local supermarkets. They also sometimes will collect school supplies and will be able to help you locate where you can pick some up.
Clothing wise, check to see if there is a Goodwill store in your area. Also many churches will have clothing available. Start making phone calls... someone you speak with will be able to let you know what is available in your area.
