Yes, you are required to continue to pay support. Contact the Federal Marshalls about who to pay it to.

You need a lawyer on this issue. If the persons involved have become wards of the state then you need to have your rights defined. If your not being allowed for safety reasons to see your children there should be some adjustments for that. All of it needs to be court approved. For this type of program it's a grey area at best.

    Hello bare:

I agree with dad. You DO need a lawyer if you want to see your children. But, I don't think THAT issue relates to the child support issue. Your kids still need to eat no matter WHERE the government is hiding them.

If the government is supporting them somehow, would THAT vitiate your child support order? I don't think so again. Say your ex wife married a wealthy man. Would THAT vitiate your child support order? No.

Or, I could be full of it.

Here's my thinking on it. Lets say the OP is in a state where child support and time with the child are tied together. Many states have this. SO if the OP had 20% time and child support was based on that. Given this situation it would be unfair to raise the level of child support because they would be legally kept from seeing the child/children for reasons of protection. That is where the grey area comes in.

I have to ask, and this is not a legal opinion, just my curiosity. Are they in a witness protection program because of you?

Also, I find it a bit sad that they're obviously in danger, so much so that they need to be in a witness protection program, and all you can think about is saving a few bucks. :(
