My mom is terminal with cancer. SSI is denying her. I need to put her two properties in MY name. How do I go about doing that? One property is in Vermont and the other is in Ohio.

If she owns the property, do a quickclaim deed for both properties and then file deeds in Records of Deeds in both county courthouses where property is located. Don't see how SSI denial will affect this transaction.

Does she have a will, are there other family members in volved? I am not clear on why or how you think this is an appropriate step to take.

We pride ourselves on the quality of advice we give here. This advice is very wrong. First it is a QUIT CLAIM deed, not a quickclaim. Second, if the reason for moving the property is so that medicare won't take it is too late. What the OP is asking about is fraud and will not be allowed.

You will have to buy it, since they are aware of the property, she will have to show it is sold, and the money spent.

Merely trying to transfer property to commit a criminal act ( defraud the government) is a very serious crime.

jonledin : There is not enough information here so there is no fraud in obtaining a quit claim (my mistake). Can't make determination on SSI because its being denied but there is no reason given for denial.

The OP stated her mother was terminal with cancer! I think there are enough clues here to suspect that the reason for the transfer of title is to protect the property from Medicare.

Second, while its not certain the OP is trying to protect assets, there is certainly a strong possibility based on the information provided. Just as I can't say for certain the OP is doing that, you can't say it isn't happening.

You are new here and you are getting off on a very wrong footing. First by giving some incorrect and poor advice (though some of your answers have been good) then by arguing to support your incorrect positions. I told you earlier we take a great deal of pride in the quality of the advice we give here and, so far, you are not up to those standards.
