Violation of probation question...
I know someone who is on probation. I'm not really a big fan of this person, and I have discovered recent photos of them using drugs on the internet. Should I report this to their probation officer?

You can if you happen to know the name of his probation officer. Most probation officers tend to look the other way if it isn't there person to look after. Just a key of advice, karma can come back to you. If you are doing it just because you don't like the person it won't serve anybody justice but if you are doing it because you truthfully think he has a problem and is in need of help then you can consider doing it.

|If you were a close personal relative, or friend, or you cared deeply for this person, or may have helped him in the past, I wouldn't personally call the probation officer, but I would contact his family.
As you have no real interest in the welfare of this person, I wonder what motivates you.

You can if you want to be a snitch. Otherwise mind your own business.

A call like that could open up a real big can of worms for you.If this person has something you want!! or you have an ulterior motive then by all means, give it a try,but expect the unexpected and keep looking over your shoulder, that person just might get wind that YOU turned them in,and retribution... just sayin'..

Just to get on the bandwagon of caution, if your motives are selfish & this person means nothing more than being a snitch, stay away. If the person is into something heavy, it'll catch up to them. Maybe, just maybe, then that person will get a clue that their way don't work & perhaps stop/seek help. And if your motives are forthright & caring, I would follow Jake 2008s advice & tell a loved one of his. Remember: You'll never get ahead by trying to get even!

The issue here is that to be honest a "photo" does not prove they are real drugs , and does not prove anyone is using drugs.
If they are on probation, then it is very likely they will have to do drug testing anyway

So you not care for this person very much. All the more reason to leave him alone and keep your own self free and clear of him. If he is doing drugs, it will be found out and you will not even be in the woodwork.

You where not there when the photo was taken so how could you know for sure that the drink was alcoholic or not? If this person is on probation you can call up the probation office and tell them about these photos and they will take it from there. And no, you don't have to give your name to them either. If you feel that strongly about this individual and wish for them to sit in jail for a spell, so be it. You don't have to speak directly to the PO either but just leave a message for so and so's PO. The message will be forwarded to the right person. Or you can mind your own business and seethe over this individual not getting their just desserts. It's your choice.
