Before I answer, please let me know just how you were aware that there was blood in her urine. I say this because some older dogs can have dark urine that looks like there is blood in it.

I noticed it because we had snow on the ground and I could clearly see 4-5 spots of blood

It is very likely that it is a urinary tract infection.

However, because of the age of your dog, it could also be a lot more serious problems, like a kidney infection, or bladder cancer... Those are a lot less likely than a UTI. Regardless, you need to take your dog into the vet as soon as possible, if your vet isn't open on weekends, I'm sure it would be fine until Monday...

ANOTHER THING! When my dog had UTI the vet wanted me to bring in a unrine sample. This is not the easiest thing in the world to do (thats an understatement) The way that I got it was to wait until she starts to pee then quickly stick a pie pan under her. That's just the method I found easiest.

Take her to the vet? Why is that even a question?

This is an old thread, Axldrive, if you have a question, please start a new thread. But take Sariss's advice and take you dog to a vet.
