Can you get pregnant during your period?
My girlfriend started her period this morning and we had sex this afternoon. She doesn't have heavy periods so it really doesn't matter and I don't find it gross. What are the chances of her getting pregnant since she just started her period? I also pulled out just as I ejaculated but I've heard about how it is possible for one to have a preejaculation of clear liquid.

We have made a promise to always use a condom from now on since we are both freaking out.

How old are you and she?
If you don't know how to be safe at all you should not be messing around.
So ,how old are you ,my answer depends on that.

We are both 18. We usually use protection but this time was kind of a spur of the moment. It's the first time we haven't used protection. Like I said, we have discussed to always use protection in the future.

Yes you can. There is no safe period where you can't fall pregnant.

Id suggest she takes the morning after pill if you both don't want a child in 9 months time.

She took Plan B OneStep about 18 hours after we had intercourse.

Like I said, she had just started her period that morning. And we had sex that afternoon around 4pm. She wouldn't be ovulating at that time would she?

    Way to modify your post.

If she started her period chances are slim that she got pregnant. Now,since she took Plan B, chances are even slimmer.

I'm sure you have learned your lesson? ;)

Im saying she started her period the day we had sex... she started it that morning and we had sex that night. She then took plan b the next morning.

But yes, I have definitely learned my lesson. I went and bought condoms today so we don't have any mishaps. We didn't have a condom that day.

Still the chances of her getting pregnant are pretty slim.

Now, remember that condoms are not 100% effective. Pregnancy can still occur while using condoms.

With spermicidal lubricant, and I'll pull out before I ejaculate.

Still doesn't matter. Anytime you engage in intercourse pregnancy is always a possibility unless the woman has had a hysterectomy.

Many women, even here at AMHD, have gotten pregnant using 3 types of birth control. And the withdrawal method should never be considered as any type of birth control.

GreenGo, the point is, as J_9 mentioned, no birth control will be 100% effective. Certainly your odds of pregnancy are reduced when using them, and many couples use a condom as their preferred choice with great success. The pulling out is not even really necessary.

However, you will run the risk of an unplanned pregnancy regardless of what form you use. Some are a bit better than others, but still nothing is 100%.

Quite simply, protect yourselves every time if you are going to have sex, but be aware that there is a small percentage of people who will still become pregnant sooner or later. Will you be in that percentage of people? That's anyone's guess.
