Do you think just plain bi-carb (baking soda) would work?
I found a lovely accident in the bedroom today and it is borderline toxic.. there's no way I am sleeping in there tonight unless I can get the smell out... and I have no vinegar *cries*

It is now time to offer testemonials for the wonder spray - Febreze! I wish they'd pay me for all these commercials.

How come they are doing their business outside a litter box? Usually cats are really great at being clean that way. If you find kitty litter too expensive, cedar chips works well too. At least it did for one cat of mine years ago on the farm. In one of my very lean years, I even put earth in a litter box.

I got kind of sick of the smell of febreze, not after cleaning up after animals, but just spraying it around to freshen the air. The lavender/comomile one is quite nice.

No, shaz, baking soda won't work for *****that******

    Cheers Tick, I was hoping.

I do have a floor steamer here but I'm not sure if it's safe to use on carpets... I could find out the hard way and just tell V I got sick of the carpet in the bedroom :D

I've used my steamer on carpet, it got stains out, but made the smell worse. Steamed urine doesn't smell good at all. :(

It really is ew. It burns the nostrils.

What else do you have in the house? Let's mix up a potion. :)

Find some lemons (I don't know why) and add some of the baking soda (don't know why) and then find some ashes (again, don't know why) and some seltzer water (?). Mix those together and lets see what happens. :)

I've had no sleep! Don't blame me, blame Indy. This is what happens when Alty is dead tired.

    Carbonated water. ;)

You'd actually do it? You'd mix them? I'm going off 2 hours sleep Shazzy, don't trust me right now, you could blow up!

Ahhhhh OK... so soda water then :p

I'd give it a go, I don't have any carpet cleaning products because most of the house is floorboards.
Plus the bedrooms are sort of a brownish, yellowish vomit color anyway... I think anything I did would be an improvement.

I would give the carpet a scrub with laundry detergent. When it is dry, sprinkle the baking soda on it and vacuum.

At this point anything is possible. Explosion, corrosion, or the best cleaning product ever made. Won't know until Shazzy tries it. ;)

Oh look, the room is spinning! :(
