[Furnace99]

Recently we had a thermostat replaced with a honeywell ct1xxa. Sorry don't know the model number off the top of my head but there is only one like it.

At first the new thermostat worked fine and the furnace would shut off after awhile.

But now the furnace does not turn off when told to on the thermostat. Nothing works and I have to flip the circuit breaker. And even when I disconnect the wires from the thermostat the furnace and the blower still run. Also when it is on it doesn't feel like its 100% on. It barely blows air out of the vents and it doesn't really feel like hot air just kind of warm.

If the furnace is not shut off it would probably run till the thing gets hot and shuts off. I am in New Mexico so this is a huge problem. I would go up in the attic to turn off the pilot light but I'm guessing the fan would still come on so that wouldn't make much sense.

I can't leave the circuit off forever because the circuit also effects all power in the living room. So now I need to know how to fix this and if this is in the realm of my ability to do so.

The furnace is a small attic furnace I don't know the model or anything. If I need it ill go crawl up there but right now I'm not interested in crawling across the attic tonight lol.

I should also mention that after awhile of cutting power through the circuit breaker, the furnace usually does not start back up after its been off for awhile. Although I have been unsuccessful at getting it to stay off today.

Usually it would come on around a certain time of the day. Around 2pm. It would stay on till someone shut it off through the circuit breaker.

I've been researching on the internet what this problem could be and most point to something wrong with the furance control board? If this is true how much would it cost for a guy to go up there and fix this? I'm on a really really tight budget and would prefer to do this myself but I'm not an electrician.
