This story came out a few months ago but I though I would post it today, for all you animal lovers(namely Bambi) you might not want to watch,, j/k;)

Golden Eagle attacks White-tailed Deer at Nachusa Grasslands!

This and many more great returns to this area thanks to the natural preservation and restoration here in the area.

Badger,wildcat,and wolf (and these Eagles, of which there are now 4 in the area)are just a few of the species returning.

That was really sad especially seeing the deers face. But cool. That was a HUGE Eagle!

I wanted to ask if the deer got away, but I think I will just let my own mind make the ending of that story. ;)

I have to admit, I just looked at the pics :o

My family (well the men) are big on hunting. Sad. But they use everything eat the meat and use the pelts.

Great pictures, I'm glad the wildlife is returning to your area, it's always a beautiful thing to see.

Next to my parents house they had a group of about 2 dozen Wallabies they would go out and feed every afternoon.

Without warning the local council came and bulldozed the entire section of bush to make way for a new road.

I hope the Wallabies all found a new home further into the scrub :(

My cat once attacked a Seagull. It was quite amusing to watch. I was torn between rescuing the Seagull and rescuing my cat. I really didn't know who would win.

My dad said "sit back and watch". Our cat got close, even won a tail feather as a prize, but I'm sure the Seagull was laughing at him as he flew away.

Poor Whiskers, he didn't stand a chance. ;)

The occasional Osprey we have here are very exciting also, they perch high up in a dead tree and eat their catch, most impressive bird as well.

What I didn't understand is why Whiskers would even try. I could understand if he was starving, desperate, but he was well fed, well cared for.

I think it was just to prove that he could. A "look at me, I'm a big bad cat" type of move.

Sadly it ended up being a "Crap, that's a big bird. I hope no one saw that. Why are they laughing?" kind of move. ;)

My Lakota(A Norwegian Elk Hound) decided to start messing with a buck deer chased out by the farmers across the road, there were 2 or 3 does with him,, and he(deer) decided the dog was a threat to his women, and chased him for more than 600 yards, from across the street in the middle of the field, all the way to where the dog ran(with a line of wetness curving across the garage floor, in front of us) and the buck just jumped the kennel fence and went on his merry way(the does all were smarter,they went alongside the property where there was no fencing,, or humans)

I miss him:(

No Elk hounds in our shelter right now, but there are a few big breeds, a lot of Australian cattle dog mixes, even a few Beagles which is very rare.
