    Overdue pregnancy
My dog was confirmed pregnant, through heatbeats, but has not developed a belly. She was AI'd 66 days ago, has milk, is shedding, is nesting and except for not getting a big belly acts in every way pregnant. She had 9 puppies last time and developed a belly, not huge but noticeable but this time her belly has hardly gotten bigger.

The average pregnancy for a dog is 62-65 days.
If your dog is at day 66 then you need to get her to the vet.
They will most likely induce labor by giving her an injection of oxytocin.

I know this will sound harsh but if you do not know what to do if your dog is overdue then the best coarse of action is to get her spayed after she has weaned this litter.

Take her back to the vet to see what the problem is and try to get her spayed after she has this litter.

    Good Luck!:)

    Excuse me?

I have never actually bred a dog myself.
My parents have been breeding for 20 years and when I do eventually breed I will make sure I know EVERYTHING possible before I even think about mating my dog.

There is a good chance, and I have heard of this happening, that she aborted her pregnancy and the body obsorbed the pups.

    Or...

Her body could be holding the puppies up very high in her body. Had a dog come through rescue who didn't look very pregnant. Got her check, and the vet infromed us that it'd be any day.

But, if she is going past her due date mark, please talk to your vet. I've never dealt with a dog that went past the due date.

I do know in horses, that when they go past the due date, people start walking them A LOT. Or the load them up in the trailer and take them down a bumpy road (not even kidding! A world class breeder would do that first, with no results, then she'd call the vet).

Pregnancy is very dangerous! You have the possibility to lose everyone! Please contact the vet immediately.

Oh and not to discredit anyone on here, but if the OP was very serious about breeding, she'd be researching what's going on and talking with a vet.. Not pleading for help from a online "chat" site that give titles to people based on how many posts they receive.

I think that's what bothers Shazzy the most...

    But I could be wrong.
