California - Attorney Fees - Fee Waiver
State of California, County of Amador.
    I am petitioner.
    Family Law case.

I was granted a Fee Waiver and I have not retained an attorney.

Respondent has retained an attorney and (in response to my petition) is requesting that I pay Respondent's attorney fees.

How do I respond? Is there a formal way to do so for the Court? Do I even need to respond to the request at all? Will the judge simply abandon Respondent's request because I've already shown that I cannot afford to pay court fees?

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

No, I wouldn't count on not being ordered to pay attorney's fees simply because you have received a fee waiver. At or before the hearing on your petition, you should research and have authority to back you up showing that under the circumstances in your case attorney fees shouldn't be awarded against you.
