Can I go on birth control even if I'm still on the depo shot
I've had been spotting brown, 3 weeks after I had a depo shot, it's really getting annoying, it smells like that last day of your period, I haven't been able to have intercourse since then, don't know if I should. Please I need help, I've been spotting now for 3 weeks. I've done all kinds of test, and yet they still don't know why this is happening

This is a side effect of the depo shot. It should lessen with time.

You will have to wait before starting any other form of hormonal birth control.

It doesn't make any sense to use both. The depo shot works by blocking the hormones that cause ovulation. The pill works by tricking your body into thinking it's already pregnant. I can't see where combining the two sets of hormones would do anything other than mess with your body even more.

I've been on depo now for years. Some people have adverse effects from it. Some bleed constantly. Others don't bleed at all. Some bleed once every three months. I agree you shouldn't use both depo and the other birth control. Depo is meant to be taken via injection every 12 weeks and in some cases can take a year or more to wear out of your system. Talk to your dr but I believe after the three months (12 weeks) is up you should be able to go to taking another form of BC
