My dog has a bacterial infection in her liver
My dog has a bacterial infection in her liver. I have taken her to the vet so many times this week. The first time I went they said nothing was wrong with her, however when I brought her home there was no changes. The next day I took her back, when they ran tests on her. They came to the conclusion that she had a bacterial infection in her liver. My dog is a Yorkie and I know liver disease is common with that breed. However the liver disease they talk about only occur when they are very young. She is 3 years old. I just want to know if the antibiotics they put her will work? Its been only one day but I still don't see any changes in her health. She lays around all day like she doesn't have any energy she never eats I have to feed her with an injection. She's not drinking water. And her bowl movements are few and far in between. And when I finally get her to start walking she staggers and falls over. I'm scared and I don't know what else to do. I just want her to get better. Can some one help?

What did your vet say about her condition and prognosis?

It generally takes at least a couple of days for the antibiotics to show any improvement. Until she is eating again, she won't have very many bowel movements.

Good. Make sure she is drinking. You can try some Pedialyte and hopefully some warm Chicken broth.

Antibiotics work on bacterial infections. Improvement should be noted within a day or two.
