Where do I purchase rock wool insulation?
I'm trying to add fire-proofing to the framing job I just did. Local codes requires fire-proofing and the inspector is recommending a fill a couple gaps with mineral wool (rock wool) because of it's fire-retardant properties. Problem is, no one seems to carry any. Any suggestions for where to purchase this? Thanks in advance...

Right click on my name, select send email. I see you are in Northern VA, I have small amount of rock wool you can have if you are conveniently located.
Send phone #, will call this evening.

Thanks! Appreciate the offer. Not to be pain though, but I don't see that option when I right-click on the hkstroud. Perhaps it's because I'm using XP with some old Service Pack? Anyway, if there's another way to access your email address just let me know. Alternatively, you can just send me an email at [email protected] and I'll reply to it.

    Thanks again!

Lead wool caulking [ 1 Answers ]

I read in another post that you can caulk with lead wool. Does this mean that after packing oakum in a joint, you then pack lead wool into that same joint (without any application of heat) and you are done?
