IF you dyed your hair a lighter color than wait a week. Lighter colors like blonde in over the counter products tend to make your hair dry.

I would go to a professional for their opinion. By the time you keep buying different colors at the store you spent the same amount of money as a professional!

Find someone that has great color in their hair and ask where they go. I ALWAYS ALWAYS schedule a free, 10 minute consultation a day or even a week before my appointment so I can meet the professional and get their opinion. Tell them the color you are looking for (bring in magazine photos) and ask them their opinion if that is something they can do for you and is it even possible for your type and color of hair to change to what you want.
    LISTEN to their advice.

Since hair has no blood supply (except in the root), and doesn't repair itself, it really doesn't matter how long you wait. The only thing that will change is that your scalp will feel better if you wait. The hair also may feel less dry immediately after dyeing it, but a week after dyeing it, there will be no difference regardless of whether you wait or not.

Also, realize that a lighter haircoloring will not lighten artificial pigments. The maxim, "Color doesn't lighten color," is often used in the industry. If you want to go darker, there's no problem (except that the colors will add). If you wish to go lighter, you'll have to use color remover first (ColorFix, Color Oops, Igora Phantom, Color Zap, Effasol, etc. The last two are bleaches that have been modified to help remove artificial pigment).

It's bad form to piggy-back on someone else's post. You should do your own post.

To answer your question, green + red = brown. You need to add red into the hair. How much red? That's the trick.
