Caught with Possession and Paraphernalia. Not charged yet?
Incident happened in July 2009. Caught with Half ounce and paraphernalia. I didn't get arrested nor cited with anything. They told me that they were going to let me go and that someone would be in touch with me the following Monday. I never got a call. 3 1/2 months later my parents get a call from the officer that pulled me over because they couldn't get ahold of me for some reason. So my parents gave me his number and I called him. He told me that he forwarded my cell phone number to another officer that will be in touch with me to help get my charges dropped. Its been 4 weeks since that call and nothing. I haven't received anything in the mail at all either. What's going on here? How long do they have to take me to court and what not?

A police officer is not going to "help" you get anything dropped.

What you need to do is talk to your parents about it and hire an attorney.
The only help they may give you is to threaten you with arrest if you don't become an informant.

What they do is turn the evidence over to the DA

What I meant by help was they wanted me to be an informant I assume. I guess I kind of worded it wrong.

    Hello e:

They probably have three years... And, if they were going to do it, they probably would have by now...

Look. A half an ounce is NOTHING. If they were going to send you away for 25 years, then I could see why you'd consider becoming a snitch... But, they're not even going to send you to jail... Don't snitch on your buddies...

You need to check the statute of limitations in your state. Excon is right. They will probably only "drop" the non-existing charge if you "work" for them. I would rather take my chance in court.
