How do I deal with my own guilt over suicide attempts?

I think you just need to understand that you were in a weak place and you made a mistake.

Guilt is a heavy burden and no one should have to bear it especially for suffering emotionally.

I tried it many years ago and still bear a horrible scar that I see everyday.I understand the guilt but I also understand that something bad brought you to a place where you felt that checking out was the only answer.

You learned,you have sorrow about it and hopefully ,by the grace of God,you will never do it again.

Perhaps talking to a counselor would be of help.If for no other reason than to dig deep and understand where the remorse is coming from.

Suicide is a very selfish act and I really do understand the guilt but I also understand that ,for me at least,my higher power has forgiven me.
If I do not forgive myself, am I not saying that I know better than my higher power?

Don't allow the past to haunt you ,know that the guilt is holding you down and weighing on your soul.

We are human and we make horrible mistakes.

You are here now and the important thing is to cherish your life and perhaps even help others who are feeling as you do.

Taking the focus off ourselves is a very good way to help others and it may help to assuage your guilt.

If this continues to linger,I would also consider some talk therapy.

Very true... the Lord forgives... and we only have to accept His forgiveness and walk as a free sprirt... Nut under guilt.. Guilt and condemnation comes from the devil.. just chuck him away :)

I have a few attempts too,the hardest thing was keeping it a secret,4 out of 10 no one knew about until I began to release the frustration through therapy,I learned that a problem shared is a problem halved, the therapist would raise an eyebrow,maybe,and ask how I felt about it today,for the most part I developed coping skills to deal with suicide ridden guilt.

If you have someone in your life you can share this with,do so,feel the feelings,allow your mind the break it needs from this guilt and move forward.'
