Barack "Captain Renault" Obama
" I'm shocked...SHOCKED to see that ACORN receives Federal Funding... :p
STEPHANOPOULOS: How about the funding for ACORN?
OBAMA: You know, if -- frankly, it's not really something I've followed closely. I didn't even know that ACORN was getting a whole lot of federal money.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Both the Senate and the House have voted to cut it off.
OBAMA: You know, what I know is, is that what I saw on that video was certainly inappropriate and deserves to be investigated.
STEPHANOPOULOS: So you're not committing to -- to cut off the federal funding?
OBAMA: George, this is not the biggest issue facing the country. It's not something I'm paying a lot of attention to.
Transcript: President Barack Obama - ABC News
Of course George did not bring up the special relationship Obama has had with ACORN over the years ,including last years campaign... or the fact that ACORN had been tagged to have a key role in the 2010 census . Forget the videos... ACORN was being investigated in multiple States before the videos he mentions were made.
Didn't he promise that he and his staff would go through the budget with a fine tooth comb ? Does his plea of ignorance sound plausible ? This is a guy who is following the local elections around the nation so close that he will meet with NY Governor Patterson this week to advise him not to run for his position next year . But an organization that has direct and historical ties to his political fortune he is not paying attention to ? This doesn't pass the smell test .
Would I be wrong in doing a Joe Wilson right about now ?

This is important to his political future. If he has the time to follow Kayne West one would think he would be following the growing scandal and the organizations ties to him past and present.
Maybe he did not know they are as corrupt an organization as exists in this country . After all... He did not know what his preacher was preaching.

You mean like act like the most ethical, most transparent administration ever like he promised? You mean like weeding out corruption and cronyism in politics like he promised?

Hello tom:
Sure you'd be wrong. What else is new? Of course it IS a big deal for you righty's.. You guys have had a hard on for them since the get go... I wonder if it's because they register black voters... Nahhh, that can't be it... You guys don't think that way...
But, you are the one who brought up the missile thing, and I brought up the war thing... Therefore in the scope of things, I think ACORN is WAYYY down the list of Obama's priorities.

Fine if it isn't no biggie then the President should order Att General Eric Holder to name an independent prosecutor to investigate the organization .

At least the diligent media is finally doing its job on the ACORN scandals. The AP reports today that Obama favors investigation into ACORN scandal. And if that wasn't impressive enough, yesterday they asked Did ACORN get too big for its own good?
Their groundbreaking investigative journalism uncovered some disturbing things:
The openly Democratic-leaning group has seen its employees accused of voter registration fraud, and taking it down has become a cause celebre for Republican lawmakers, activists and pundits...
Republicans are using ACORN to portray Democrats as corrupt and distract Obama from his policy agenda, the same way that Democrats used issues involving Halliburton, the giant government contractor and ex-employer of former Vice President Cheney, against the GOP during the Bush years. Top Republicans from congressional leaders to California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger want criminal probes of ACORN's activities and conservative voters are pressuring news organizations for coverage.
Additionally they report that 'ACORN chief executive Bertha Lewis has pledged do whatever necessary "to re-establish the public trust"' and that 'Lewis called the attacks "reminiscent of the McCarthy era."'
Halliburton, Bush and Cheney, oh my.

Yeah, yawn. It's more like them registering Mickey Mouse and the Dallas Cowboys that bothers me. Oops, aren't most of the Cowboys... black?

Hello again, tom:
Independent prosecutor?? Because one or two bad apples are caught on tape you think the ENTIRE ORGANIZATION should be investigated by a special prosecutor?? Dude! Then you scoff at my suggestion that your anger might be race related... AND, you consider the ACORN thing in the same light as the CIA torture thing? DUDE! Your priorities are wack! In fact, they're SO wacked, that I can't imagine your anger could be based on anything BUT race. Deny it all you like.

Obama would never have ACORN properly investigated as they can do no wrong in his eyes regardless of what the crime is. That's his slush fund. He's been fluffing off any direct questions regarding ACORN for a long time. And to think these crooks are in charge of the Census really burns my behind to a crisp. This is worse than having the fox guard the henhouse. The fox ate all the chickens and then blamed it on the rooster.

What many people have missed is the ties between ACORN and SEIU.
ACORN received most of its funding from the Service Employees International Union, which is also the largest donor to the DNC and the 2008 Obama campaign. ACORN in turn donated many of its organizing services to the SEIU for its fundraising activities. The ties between ACORN (a major organizing arm of the DNC) and SEIU (major money-donating arm of the DNC) are huge. And in fact, some of the investigations in some states name both the SEIU and ACORN as being under investigation for their combined activities.
The point is that the investigations into ACORN dig deeply into the source of funds and the source of organization for the entire DNC... the whole Democrat party is implicated in this.
Is it important to Obama? Perhaps not.
But it ought to be.
