    Dishwasher Malfunction
We have a Kenmore Dishwasher Model: 665.1703 2403. The start button was flashing and would not reactivate the washer when pressed. I activated the diagnostics cycle but instead of the cycle proceeding, all the lights activated and froze. I then shutoff the circuit for 5 minutes. When the power was restored the panel lights would not activate at all. Basically, it's dead! I figure the panel or the PC:( board is shot. Again similar experiences?

Model 665:16033401 has done exactly the same thing. Maybe they self destruct when we try to fix them! If you had yours repaired, do you know what they replaced? I am thinking about ordering the electronic control, but don't know if that's the right thing, and it costs $95 to order from Sears

We ended up buying a new unit because there was no way to determine whether the problem was the control panel or one other sensor related to the power control. A friend of a friend is a Sears repair tech and he thought the problem was a power related one. The problem was if you purchase the wrong part you can't take it back. The total cost for the 2 parts was over $300 so the new unit cost $459 and we retained the old unit for parts. (i.e. the motor/pump - value $450 if purchased as a part later) It has been a very frustrating experience. We can only hope this machine fares better than the last.

My dishwasher has RECOVERED (at least for the moment). Thanks for the info- I got so irritated I took the front top panel off and found there was dried food inside on the electrical board. I scraped the stuff off with my fingernail, brushed it off the board, wiggled all the wires and things I could reach and closed it back up. It just ran a load perfectly. Knock on wood I hope it continues to work. Seems like the stuff shouldn't have been able to get into the electrical stuff, evidently it isn't leak proof.
