I'm hoping someone can help, I've never met anyone with the same problems that I have.

I started my period when I was about 12 years old, for the next year my periods only lasted about 5 minutes each month(:D), after the year was up, Nothing for another year. My mom and I brushed it off as being a "typical teenager thing" "my body wasnt ready, just thought it was" when I was about 14 my periods would come on and last a few weeks, again that was my bodys way of working out the "kinks".

At 15 I went to the OBGYN, *SHAZAM* birthcontrol, YAY REGULAR periods!

At 17 I went off the birthcontol... I had a steady period for... 3 months:eek:! I just delt with it, couldn't afford the birthcontol anymore, Insurance got cut...

For the next few years my period was the same way, I'd have a period for MONTHS and then no period for months.

At 21, I started my period in April 2006 and didn't come off until August 2007, 18 month steady period.

At 22, Birthcontrol again! Finally, with help from our local Health Center my periods were regular again WOOT!

At 22, January 24th 2009-"Daddy, It hurts when i take a breathe, I think I pulled a muscle in my back" ----Hours later "Get her in the truck, shes gotta go to the ER"

An hour later: "Ma'am, you can't leave, we're going to put you in ICU, the catscan showed SERVERAL bloodclots in your lungs"

Jesus Christ! Seriously?

So after a few dozen tests, 15 shots of heprin in my stomach, 2 iv's of blood thinners, daily pills of another bloodthinner, a pain killer, and a week in the hospital they tell me, Ma'am you're not allowed to take any form of birth contol again, EVER, Not only do you have the clots, you have deep vein thrombosis, and you also suffer from anemia (< duh.)

So here I am, 23 and disabled, and guess what I'm on my MFin period. This one since... eh... May 14th 2009

No more birth control to regulate it, pills every day, doctor won't release me back to work, needless to say, I lost my job, No money coming in... moved back in with mom... No insurance, trying for medicaid--only if you get pregnant--theres a thought... not.

Has anyone delt with periods that's lasted this long, did you get the problem solved, PLEASE let me know how

I'm sorry you've been through so much.

Is there a free clinic somewhere you could go to? Could you claim a pre-existing condition to receive Medicare? Some offices may except cash - on a payment schedule.

It sounds like you could have a hormonal imbalance, blood disorder, or any number of things. You should NOT have to bleed for as long as you do - and while birth control helps, there must be something else that can be tried.

There's plenty of free clinics, however I get the same answers "There's nothing we can do", "We are out of options", " You need a specialist"

I currently have/had a doctor who charged only 50 a visit, months and months of blood work, his answer "I don't know what to do, you need medicare" This doctor will no longer return phone calls, emails, hell the nurses won't even answer my questions.

Medicare/medicaid responces: It's not a life threatening condition, to get the help you need, you need to get pregnant/and or have cancer and then we can put you on medicaid"

Pregnants not an option, Firstly, the lining of my uterus is obviously unstable, if I lost a baby--it'd be a lot worse mentally. Secondly, I'd like to live after my pregnancy.

No cancer has been found-yet.

I have an appointment this Friday hopefully-I pray to GOD-they can figure something out. He's internal, the ER requested I go to him.

Oh, my favorite answer: "We need to do a pap smear, but while you're bleeding, we can't. Come back when you're not bleeding"

Try another country(?) That is what we do here when things don't work in the medical arena. Somewhere where this is all covered by the gov.

Never thought about it, maybe. Ironically, I was watching a documentry on the health care in Canada yesterday.

I am in Canada, so yeah, your problem here would be all covered by the government automatically until you were better no matter the cost or specialist needed. When there are waiting times, (used to be issues with some things, MRI's I think) people go down to the States and pay through employment benefits or out of pocket. Other countries are similar to this but Canada is closest.
