Well here's the situation;

My mother passed away 3 months ago and had about 15,000$ in debt spread out among 3 or 4 different places, the largest being around 11k, there was no insurance money, none in the bank and the car was in my name alone, but what I am worried about is the house.

I have the deed and when it was purchased in '07 both her and I had our names put on it as equal partners. Would a debt collector be entitled to the house at all if I were to continue living in it, or could they force me to sell it and give them the money that was owed to them?

Or

If I sell the house and they don't find out about it for a few years down the line would they be able to sue me for that money?

Your mother's estate is responsible for paying her debts. You will need to speak with her wills and trusts attorney or go through probate through the courts if she had no will. You will have to pay some of her debts how much will depend on how well you negotiate. Good luck!

In my State a Will has to be probated. I don't understand the "or go through probate ... if she had no will" part of this.

Probate isn't necessary in California?
