The thermostat is "OFF" but hot air blows
    We have a Goodman unit, model:1999 cpkj30-1ab, serial: 990356219.

The problem is, I turned the unit "OFF" and woke to find hot air coming though the vents. The wall thermo is still to the OFF setting. It's like the heat is stuck. I had to go to the main power box and turn it off. What could be the problem?

If disconnecting heat wire or fan wire from the thermostat does not turn it off, it is not the thermostat. Short in control wires or stuck relay?

Odds are you have a stuck sequencer probably will need replaced but you can tap them with the power turned off and see if it go off.

A/C or Heat doesn't work in "on" or "auto". Fan will not come on at the "on" position either. I changed the batteries in the thermostat. I also read somewhere to disconnect the "Y" and hold it to the "R" on the thermostat for two minutes. That will tell me if the thermostat is the problem. ...

I just installed a Honeywell TRH7500 programmable thermostat. The installation went smoothly, but I cannot figure our how to override/clear the "leave/return" schedules. The thermostat comes with 4 daily program settings: wake, leave, return, sleep. I only want to use wake and sleep but I...

Central heater will not work on "auto" and blows cool air when on "man" [ 2 Answers ]

OK my central heater blower will not come on at all when on auto, and when on manual/on it just blows cool air out of vents. I was told to put a jumper wire on (w) to (g)wires at the thermostat, (I think) to check it, but not sure exactly. Is that the thermostat on wall or what? The pilot light is...

Heater blows cold when "On", not at all on "Auto" [ 1 Answers ]

Our gas heater is 7 years old, and has worked fine in the two years we've rented here. This winter though, we can't get it to work consistently. When on "Auto", it doesn't turn on at all, no matter what temperature we select, and when we turn the fan to "On", it simply blows cold air. It...
