Pain and swelling top of foot.
I have been suffering with swelling and pain on my upper left foot about a week now, I am required to wear steel toe boots for work every day, what could be wrong with me? I have also started to walk with a limp and it get's worse after I get home and walk without the boots.

Please make an appointment with your doctor. You may need an x-ray or at least for him to poke around. Is the top of your foot discolored or red or tender to the touch?

To be more direct its partial side and the top of the foot, if that matters... not red or discolored but definitely tender to touch.

Does it hurt when boots are on? Maybe one of the bones in the foot got broken and, when out of the boot, is much more unprotected and having less structure. Or is there something inside the boot that is rubbing or pressing?

It hurts less when the boot is on, and nothing is in the boot pressing against the foot, and I haven't hit or stomped the foot.

You have got leprosy. Some day soon you'll take off those steel toe boots and your foot will stay there in it.

Then the boot must be stabilizing the foot enough so that when you take off the boot, the foot becomes unstable. How new are the boots? How long have you worn them?

Ive had them for at least 2 months and worn them just the same length of time, but I do not believe it is the boots.

I would go to the doctor and show it to him, and let him poke and prod.

I'd bet MY foot you've got a stress fracture. Have an MRI done then come back and tell me I was right! ;o) Feel better & good luck.
