I Can't Put My Imagination On Paper!
I'm very creative but for some reason, I can make up very good fictional stories in my head but then when I tried to put it on paper, I can't do it!

Every night I go to bed with a story in my head. It's like I'm telling myself a story, it's very interesting too! But I tried to put it down on paper or type it, but then my head won't be making up stories anymore!

    PLEASE HELP!

    Hi, survivorboi!

How about recording with a tape recorder or other type of recording device, what it is that you're thinking?

    Thanks!

    Hi again, survivorboi!

Another thing to consider, is that writing anything is a process that can take a number of steps, experimentation and trials. It can be like piecing a jig saw puzzle together. You don't necessarily have to start at the beginning for everything to be developed and completed as the result.

    Thanks!

Well, I guess I will try the tape recorder! It sounds like a great idea, but one of my concerns is that I'm only a head person, I can only think in my head, I don't know when I try to speak it out, I'll be good. But it's a great idea and I'm getting me a tape recorder!

Does anyone have any other ideas on how to get stories/words from my head to paper? I usually have great stories building up in my brain, then when I try to write them down/type them, I keep on worrying about punctuation/grammer, etc. I just can't seem to write freely, like I think. (I think very creatively =)

The corrections come later. Do what I do and just write, even if it doesn't seem to look that good or make sense at the time. Use just words and phrases and short sentences to get your ideas down on paper. I wrote a story in a half hour at 3 a.m. and sold it the next day online to a magazine. The editor and I worked on any changes in later emails.

    Hi again, survivorboi!

Wondergirl makes some very valid points. Just writing, practicing doing so and experimenting with what you write can benefit you. The corrections can happen later.

    Thanks!

Buy one of those metal or plastic spiral notebooks and keep your writings and scribblings in one place. You could even buy a small one to carry in your pocket wherever you go.

What I do is I wirte every thing about my story first and then the story line then I would write the story cause then you could keep on reviewing it and making it better e.t.c. it doesn't have to be perfect the first time!

Yes, you're correct, TheOreeoShow! Stories might have many revisions until there the way that the arthor wants them to be.

    Thanks!
