How To Remove Stopper
I have the same kind of stopper; the one you turn slightly to get it to drop. I believe that it can be unscrewed but it seems to be on very tight. Any suggestions?

Boltogr, You piggybacked on a 4year old post. The threads are brass to brass so there's no rust to bind up so put a little muscle into it and turn that sucker out counterclockwise. Good luck, Tom

Yes, I realized that just after I posted. But I am pleasantly surprised that it was actually answered as well; thank you so much.
I will try getting someone stronger to try this for me today. I honestly just thought I may be out of luck until I found the thread.

It is not about being "strong". Screw is small, probably corroded, and is in hard-to-get-to place. Use small, short screwdriver to loosen it...

I should have asked. Are you attempting to remove the set vscrew or the stopper itself. Tom

Well, I think the stopper but I'm not exactly sure. We have a severe clog that Draino doesn't work on. I think it is hair, because my roommate and I both have very long thick hair. But I'm more curious because I would like to run a drain snake down it before I am forced to call a plumber.

You can't snake a tub from the drain. You have to remove the chrome face plate and snake from the tub waste,(see image). If you think there might be hair in the drain put a hook in a piece of wire and go fishing. The drain only runs back 4 or 5 inches before it runs into a tee. (see image) But try this first. Tonight before bedtime pour a half gallon of bleach down the drain and let it set overnight. Next morning, (and this is important) flush it out with two large pans of boiling water. The bleach will start to break up the hair and make it slippery and the boiling water will melt the grease and flush the mess away. Good luck, Tom

How to remove the stopper

My tub is draining slowly. I am sure hair just below the stopper is causing this. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to remove the stopper. This style doesn't have the adjusting rod with a ball up above. It merely opens and closes by turning 1/4 turn.
Any help is appreciated....
