No. She wore her $570 sneakers while making a public appearance at a local food bank to dish out lunch to people in poverty.
Talk about tone deaf.

Tone deaf? I don't get it?
You may have misunderstood my question about where she wore the sneakers. I really didn't know, so I wondered just how savvy she is on fashion.

Ummm let me see if you wear tennis shoes to serve at a food bank
And you claim that you do not go to expensive stores
And you tell others that they should sacrifice for the good of the poor
Hypocrite or not 'getting it' comes to mind.

Has Oprah forgotten about Eleanor Roosevelt who worked tirelessly for the U.S. and made policy toward civil rights that has become unprecedented in history?
Not to mention her other numerous achievements as first lady.
Her human rights activism is legendary.
Love Oprah but she dropped the ball on this one.
I think Michelle has fantastic potential ,yet to be realized to gain the title of *best first lady ever*.

Gal,
Tone deaf, in this context, means someone who doesn't understand what other people may be thinking or feeling.
Wearing $540 sneakers to a soup kitchen where people are mostly too poor to feed themselves indicates that she lacks a certain empathy (hey excon, see that?! ) and understanding of the plight of those around her. She is "tone deaf" to their feelings and personal situations.
Sort of the same way that the President going on a very public golf outing while the country is in the midst of the "worst financial disaster since the great depression" might indicate a lack of empathy with the plight of main street Americans.
Or how the MSM making Obama and Biden eating a hamburger into a major news item at the same time that we have swine flu, financial unrest, nuclear proliferation and political infighting taking place, might indicate that the MSM hass lost perspective on what is newsworthy and what is not. They seem to be tone deaf to what the real news of the day is.
That's what I mean by "tone deaf".

What has she done?
Oh yea visit soup kitchen - wait I do that.
Oh sorry she also paid a visit to a cancer ward and started making an organic garden..
Whoops did I forget that she is "promiting bills" that her husband is trying to pass.
----If clothing is all we can talk about and how "awesome" she is then really she isn't that great.
I'm with Art Eleanor Roosevelt was a great first lady.

Eleanor Roosevelt was truly a great first lady. She tirelessly visited the American people since Franklin basically couldn't due to his infirmity. She was a great ambassador to the American people and then to the entire world. She would go to the American people, whether it was in the bowels of the earth in a coal mine, or visit an orphanage. Eleanor was definitely NOT a clothes horse and cared little for fashion. She had other things to occupy her mind and time. Eleanor had real class.
I can't say that Michelle Obama has any real fashion sense unless you could call her a serious K Mart or Wal Mart shopper. Her outfits are truly laughable and extremely wrong for most public appearances she has made so far. The laughable outfits she wore in Europe were truly a statement of what NOT to wear when meeting the Queen of England or the wife of the President of France.
It would be like saying Princess Diana looked stunning in her K Mart skirt at a dinner attended by foreign diplomats. Diana had real style and class even if she was taking the garbage out. I can't really say that much about Michelle. She looks like she's taking the garbage out regardless of WHAT she has on.
And let's not forget this woman wears wigs all the time. Her real hair is very short. Everyone seems to forget this woman is a phony from the get go - even down to her fake hair.
As far as Oprah is concerned, she just wants to get in on the "free goodies" she can glean from the White House. She'll be happy with any crumbs that fall her way - such as an "exclusive" interview with Michelle - or whatever. Quite frankly, who cares. I don't. And I don't think most real American citizens care either. The fashion crap is just media plugs keeping America from hearing what is really going on in the country.
And let's not forget the 9,000 gallons of fuel Bammy wasted for Earth Day visiting Iowa.
Both of those two "ladies" are extremely wasteful, arrogant, ignorant, and highly self centered. The ladies I refer to are BO and MO. They do not have America's best interest at heart. Sorry.

That tyrade is very un-ladylike of you twinkie but I must say not surprising. Why you so angry. Most little old women I know aren't so bitter.
And you are in the minority if you think Michelle Obama's fashion sense is poor. In fact Europe thought her choice of dress was very good. But who cares anyway!!
