Driving with a suspended license Arizona
Hi I am really worry! :(Today I got stop by a police officer, for going 12 miles over the limit, when he checked my license it was suspended for not paying a 200 dlls fee for a minor traffic violation in another city. I am in the state of Arizona, and tomorrow morning I will pay my ticket and hopefully get my license to work again. I heard that if I show that I got it back and paid the ticket will drop the charge, is this true? What can I do to solve this manner? I am really worry because I want to join the marines soon, and I know this will affect me in getting a good job inside the corp. I appreciate if some one could give me some advice thank you...

Yo thesmith.. .
Getting stopped for 12 miles over the limit, unless in a residential type area, indicates the officer was a bit bored or attempting to impress his superiors.
However, the real point is what the hell were you doing driving on a suspended license, regardless of how it came about?
The advice to simply pay the ticket and the license will be reinstated is a bit naïve. That could be the case, but not paying the $200 was one offense, and now you have compounded it by driving on a suspended license, which is an additional offense, and far worse than a non-paid fine.
Paying the original fine clears that part. Then you have to deal with the suspended license as a separate offense, one which the courts have zero patience or tolerance with.
Do yourself a favor and call an attorney, as most will consult with you for the first time at no charge. They will give you knowledgeable advice and suggestions.
If you want to join the marines, than show the mature judgement that will be needed and quit screwing around.
Sounds mean, but it's not. Just real.

Oh boy. Driving with a suspended license...
Depending on which state you live in, you could get by with a fine or more suspension time and community service hours.
You said that it was simply of not paying the fine... well, the judge could look kindly on that, but then again, you DID drive on a suspended license knowingly.

I'm a little concerned because your other post says you want to join the Marines, have a clean record except for a credit problem - and this makes no reference to the credit problem and the other post doesn't reference this one.
Anyway - in my area the Police ticket 5 miles or more over the limit. There is no such thing as a "50 but you can go 62 before I ticket you" rule of thumb anywhere. I don't see the Police Officer was bored (as someone else said). I see he was enforcing the law.
No, paying the ticket will not get the charge dropped. These are two different things. Paying the ticket does not cancel out driving without a license. I'm surprised there wasn't a warrant issued for you and you weren't put in jail.
If you have the preliminary paperwork done to join the Marines, appear with an Attorney and make that argument. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. If joining the Marines is more of a "I think I'd like to join the Marines" plan, it isn't going to change anything.
I wouldn't go without an Attorney in any event, but that's just me.

Thanks for all your answers, I was really scare of what was going to happen, I didn't want to have my license remove or a large fine for driving with a suspended license, before I went to court I paid the my last ticket and had my license reinstate, when I was up in front of the judge I explained him that I forgot to paid the ticket and that's why I had my licensed suspended, I showed him prof that I have already paid and that I got my license reinstate and he remove that offense and just plea guilty of speeding I still have to pay about 500 dlls but I didn't ended up in jail or with no license. Now I know that driving its not a right but a privilege, take care of it and keep your driving record clean.

Hi, I have a similar situation, however a little different. I too had an unpaid photo radar ticket, then I was rear-ended (it was not my fault) and the next thing I knew, the officer gave me a ticket for driving with a suspended license. It had just been suspended 1 week before I got hit, so I never got the notice from the MVD. Anyway, I paid the ticket, and got my license back the very next day. Now my court date is set for tomorrow and I have some questions 1) what did you plea when you went to court and were able to explain to the judge what happened? 2) Do you know how many points go on your license for driving with a suspended license?
