What do you mean by "pending"? Did you have H-1B stamped in your passport?

The company would file for my H1-B in April 09. By pending, I meant, if I don't get a decision from USCIS regarding my H1-B. Would I be able to work in the period when my OPT expires and I haven't heard a decision from USCIS regarding the H1-B application ?

PS: I am currently a masters student and am working on OPT. My OPT expires in July 09.
