So, I was wondering how I could make a photo look like this? VVVV

It's kind of an old rustic type look. I was wondering how I could possibly make a photo look this way? I have photoshop but I must admit I am completely stupid in using photoshop. So any help would be wonderful. Thanks to everyone who replies!

This "aged" effect is produced by reducing the saturation in the reds. Use Image -> Adjustments -> Saturation, then select Reds (instead of Master) and move the saturation slider to the left. Or make an adjustment layer for Saturation, and then select Reds and move the slider to the left.

In the Develop module of Lightroom there is a preset for "cold light" which does much the same effect.

Irfanview is a great program for someone who doesn't have Photoshop (and I recommend it all the time), but the person has Photoshop and you can do a LOT more with Photoshop than Irfanview.

I have photoshop elements 5.0, so when I push Image, there is no adjustments button. See VVV D: ):

I don't have Elements 5.0 so I'm not sure where the saturation option is in that version - they moved it around quite a bit in different versions of Elements. Try Layer -> Adjustment Layer and see if you can access the saturation tool that way. Or click on Help, then type "saturation" - Adobe's help is pretty good.

Glad I was able to help! FYI, in the future please make sure you mention that you have Photoshop Elements 5.0 so we can give you the answer for your particular version of "Photoshop".

I did know that the question was about Photoshop, but just wanted to point out that there are other options to creating different effects on images. This site gets fantastic results when people are looking for things on the Internet. Someone else might be searching for a way to change an image who didn't have Photoshop, and this thread might come up in the search.
