    How can I open my Dad's estate in Alabama when I live in Georgia? He did not leave a will.

    I'm sorry about the loss of your father and hope that everything otherwise is okay with you and yours!

    The first thing that I would recommend that you do would be to get in touch with an attorney who can help you with this matter and also represent you. If your father died intestate, then things aren't going to be all that simple and cut-and-dried and you're going to need some legal representation and advice to protect as well as act in the best interests of you and those dear to you.

    You need an Attorney in Alabama, where your father resided. Are you the only heir?
