That is proof of Republican malfeasance.
Except that it is the Democrats who passed Gramm-Leach-Bliley, who created the Community Reinvestment Act that FORCED banks to make loans to poor people who couldn't afford the loans, and deregulated Fannie and Freddie in 1996. It is also a Democrat-controlled congress that has done NOTHING about this problem (except deny its existence) since 2007 when it first came to light. It's been almost a year and a half since the first banks started filing for bankruptcy protection. Where have Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi been for the past year and a half? And why have they decided to close up shop at Congress during this crisis?
On the other hand, McCain and Bush have been talking about this problem and trying to pass legislation to fix it since 2003... legislation that has been blocked time and again by... you guessed it... the Democrats.
Yeah, the Republican Congress prior to 2007 spent like drunken sailors, and their malfeasance is crystal clear. That's why they were voted out of office. But it's the DEMS who are in control of Congress now, and have been since this little problem started cropping up in February 2007. Where have they been?
