    Toilet rough-in. Any wiggle-room?
I saw an answer that the toilets' drain needs to be 12 inches on center from the finished wall (for a 12' rough in toilet of course). My problem is that I have an unfinished wall exactly 12' from the center of the toilet drain. I'm going to use 1/2 drywall. So, it sounds like I'm off by 1/2 inch. Do I need to move the wall back 1/2 inch (there is a little room behind it), or might I have 1/2 wiggle room to fit the tank snugly against the finished wall (which will be 11 1/2 inches from the center of the flange/drain). If it makes any difference, the toilet I will install is a Toto Drake w/ elongated bowl.

    Thanks!

I think you are fine as is. I could be wrong but I think Tom actually recommends 11 1/2" from finished wall. If you are really concerned, sit the toilet in place and see how much room you have between the back and the stud.

It is worth taking your measurements off the toilet before you try to install. If your tank isn't at least 1" off the finished wall you may need to buy a 10" rough in or offset flange.

Harold is correct again... many plumbers are installing toilets at 11.5" off the finished wall...or 12" off the rough stud wall. You will be fine here.

Thanks all, for the replies. :) Out of paranoia, I did a test fit, and you all are right of course. It will be fine.
