No ring on my toilet flange
Hi.
I'm replacing my old toilet in my basement. When I removed the old one I saw that there was no flange collar and the toilet was only held in place by the wax ring. How can I mount my new toilet to the floor with out this collar. I've searched the local hardware stores for a solutions and the help I get range from "Use two wax rings" to "make a wooden flange collar and screw it into the cement floor". There must be an easier way. The current plumbing is black PVC. (I think). And there is a flange there, but no ring on it. Thanks for any help/guidance. |

I have a couple options... Could try to locate, or could try to order the CLAM repair flange ring (see attached image: the clam2.pdf). This is best solution if an ABS (black plastic) flange is intact without the ring. The CLAM is hinged and will open wide enough to slide around flange and can then shut flange, setting into groove around ABS flange. Then can secure to floor... all set! Google clam repair flange. Let me know if can't find it. Another option is a simple repair flange ring (red flange... see pic.). This is available at all LARGE home supply stores (Lowes and Home depot). Both repair flanges require you to secure the flange to the concrete floor. There are a few ways to do this: (1) The easiest is probably to purchase 1/4" Tapcon blue masonry anchor screws (or similar...see pic.). Here need to purchase a 5/32" masonry drill bit (will be available right next to the screw anchors), drill hole the length of the screw (1.5"-2" should do it fine) and then simply install the screws into floor and secure flange (practice once or twice in area that doesn't matter). Could also use 1/4" plastic drop in anchors and screws (see other pic....;) ) A 1/4" masonry drill bit comes with the kit... drill holes appropriately, set plastic anchors, screw flange in place (not as good as other option). Both these options or similar can also be found at your local PLUMBING SUPPLY HOUSE (usually wholesale, but will sell to you at near retail price... I am sure). Let me know what you think... Hello, I have a PVC toilet flange without the ring that goes on the outside. I am trying to snap a new ring onto it but it just won't go on it is very frustrating. I push and push and use a rubber mallet and it just won't go on. Does anyone have any tips on getting this ring on? Thank you.
I am almost done tiling the bathroom floor and the old flange sits underneath the finished floor.. If I use a waxless ring like the one in the picture do I still need to add a 1/4" flange extender ? Thanks
