    Statute of limitations debt
I got a call from a collection company, saying I owe 14,000 in a old student loan I got from the bank of nova scotia in November of 1998.I asked for a copy of the loan, they e-mailed it to me and the loan was not in my name, same last name but not the correct first name. The collections company wanted me to make them an offer on this loan to settle, they said they would cut off 2,500 off the loan and to make them an offer on the remainder of the11,500, I said no. I have never received a bill or statement for this loan and Ihave never made a payment on this loan. This loan was taken in New Brunswick, I now live in Alberta.

What should my course of action be if any?
    Thank you

I did not detect any "without a doubt" denial of this debt in your post?

Are you saying that this is, without a doubt, not your debt?

If so, then you have nothing to worry about. What did they say when you told them
That the debt is not in your name?

Or, is it possible that this IS your debt, and you are looking for a way to get out of it?

Did you or did you note take out this loan? If you did not and can prove it, then you can get it all dismissed against you. If you did and KNOW you are responsible, you canhave a judgement filed against you by a court. You will still be responsible for the debt and there are companies that go after people that have large judgenets against them
