The police officers and judge are trying to convince you to drive more carefully so you don't end up with your parents crying their eyes out over your early grave.

Sound harsh? All those traffic rules are to preserve people's safety including yours. Drivers that observe the speed limit don't get in as many wreaks.

Conviction on a reckless driving offense will probably shift you into a group that has a statistically higher probability of an automobile collision that will result in a very expensive insurance claim for property damages or injuries to people. The insurance companies charge much higher premiums to that group in order to cover those expensive claims. After the fine, court costs and lawyer bills your family can expect to pay significantly higher auto insurance premiums for several years (probably until you graduate from college and move away from home). Those premium increases are on top of the normally high rates when a careful driver under 25 lives in the household.

Make sure you are represented by a lawyer to explain what may happen to you and your parents and try to minimize the adverse effects resulting from the reckless driving complaint and possible probation violation.

Right, if it says there's jail time - and you are already on probation - I would believe there is possible jail time. I guess the Police are getting sneaky - helicopters, unmarked cars, all sorts of high tech stuff.

What's up with that is the Police want you to drive the speed limit.

What is your question about insurance?

Report the police contact to the PO immediately because if they find out they can violate your probation. Your insurance rates will go up appreciably if you are convicted.
