    Taxes in NYC
Hi I live in manhattan,ny and work there too . Now when doing my taxes I owe the state about 1200 dollars. My tax guy says that this is becoz when I received my signing bonus, I was not taxed New York city tax although had been taxed federal and ny state tax. However, my question is why should I pay New York city tax for my signing bonus when I was living in Pennsylvania at the time of receiving my bonus. Also shouldn't I get some refund for not having lived the entire year in new york(I moved there only April 2007).
    Id really appreciate any feedback

    Thanks:)

On NY return you will report all your income that you earned while in NY. Bonus is also NY income.
If you treat bonus as PA income then you will also file PA tax return and explain NY why it is not NY income.
