Hi there! I can share with you what I use. It depends on what type of paint you have used. If I use acrylic paint, I use a clear gloss Polycrylic finish and do at least two coats and more if I want the finish thicker. I don't like to do a heavy coat to begin because it will sag or run. If using oil paints, then I would use clear gloss Polyurethene finish and follow the same process. It comes in a matt finish also. It would just depend on the look you want as far as matt or gloss.

I have used as high as up to seven thin coats of the Polyuerethene when giving a nice finish to stained wood but only use two or three of coats on eggs. Be sure and allow the appropriate drying time between coats.

Hope you will post an image of the egg when it is completed for us to view. Best to you. :p

I hope my ideas are helpful to you. I noticed that Clough posted a link to some of my egg images for you. He knows I am usually online late rather than early generally. I will try in the next few days to photograph and post images of a few more I have done. I paint on Ostrich and Emu Eggs.

My niece has taken up beading and beaded an egg as a gift to me. I will photograph that one as well. She is just beginning. I have never worked with beads. I have posted a few links below of another artists work that absolutely blows my socks off, every time I see her work. I believe you will really enjoy seeing all of her work. The links I copied and pasted here are of some of her bead work. I asked her questions regarding her beading awhile back and she was more than generous with information and encouragement.
